Dear Students:I am very excited to be your teacher for this school year! I plan to get to know you well and do all that I can to help you learn when you are with me. I hope that we have a lot of fun together, but I also plan to work hard and I will expect that you will give your best effort too. I once learned that learning doesn't happen on a timeline. That means that while you will learn something and practice something every single day, it may not always stick so we will review and relearn and re-practice and re-test and relearn again! I can't wait for all that is in store for us each day of this school year (and beyond!) Are you ready??
What To Do When You're Absent
Please show me your stamped planner on the day you return to class. I will help you get your make up work or what you missed when you were absent. If you are absent for an extended period of time due to illness or vacation, please contact me and I will help you collect your work and can help set up a time to work 1:1 with you before or after school.
We will learn together in class and I will provide time for working on homework assignments during class, however you may still have some homework to take with two to three times a week. I will write on the board daily what we do in class and what the homework assignment is. Your job is to record this in your daily planner and to have your work with you each day in class. I believe that homework is an important tool to help you learn and to help you practice responsibilities. Use your planner, do your assignments and come to class prepared!

How to Read My Skyward Grade Book
Any assignment you see listed has been already assigned to your student in class. If there is an asterisk (*) in the place of a score then I have either not graded it or not received it from your student. If there is a zero (0) in the place of a score then I have given your student several days and several reminders to turn in the assignment and after more than a week if it has not been turned it then the score becomes a zero. I am happy to change that score if or when the assignment is turned in, however, until then the zero will affect the grade and this may prompt the student to get that missing work in to me for a better grade.
